Graduate Recognition Sunday News!

Dear Graduate and Parents of Graduate,
First Baptist Church has planned a special baccalaureate day to honor the members of our church family who now experiences a significant milestone in their life, graduation. Graduate Recognition Day will be Sunday, June 6th. Graduates are asked to participate in both the 9:00am & 10:30am worship services. All graduates are asked to meet in the Sanctuary at 8:30am bringing your cap and gown (if you have it). Testimonies from the graduates will be given during the services. If you are graduating from college, you do not have to wear your cap and gown; however, you may if you wish. A luncheon at noon for high school graduates and their families will follow in the Family Life Center Dining Hall.

All graduates are invited to process in at the beginning of the service. Reserved seating is on the front rows of the center section. During the service graduates will receive a Gift as a way of saying “God speed!” As the names of the graduates are called, their photographs will be projected on the screen. Please provide 4 photographs of your participating graduate (growing up, in their graduation gown, etc) by May 30st for the slideshow. For your convenience photos may also be emailed to price@yukongroupinc.com. Pictures may be picked up in the church office the following week. At the end of the service, graduates will recess out and be available to be greeted by the congregation.

Following the service, graduates will be photographed as a Class of 2010 and then have an opportunity to change out of their cap and gown before the Luncheon in the Family Life Center. This meal is to honor those graduating from high school. Families of graduates are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please RSVP to Janet Webb in the church office by Sunday, May 30st (jwebb@fbc-h.org or call 704.875.6581, ext. 11). For any family members beyond the immediate family, the cost will be $7 per person and should be paid by May 30th. During the luncheon we will enjoy some delicious food and an informal time of remembering what brought our grads to this point and what lies ahead for them.

During lunch a framed photograph of your graduate will be displayed. On Sunday morning, June 6, please bring a free-standing framed photograph of your participating graduate to the dining hall before 9:00 a.m. These photos may be picked up following the program.

We are excited to share in your accomplishments and want to join in the voices that surround you which say, “You Matter!” You matter to God and you matter to us. You are a very important part of this church body and we commit to pray for you and provide consistent spiritual support where you can continue to grow and find renewal on the road ahead.

Again, congratulations!
